Scituate Shelter Information:

When reporting to a shelter please bring any medications you will need during your stay.  Scituate shelters do not normally have the capacity to feed residents, bring easy to prepare food such as sandwich makings, refrigeration is available.  Scituate shelters cannot accommodate persons who need constant medical supervision as the shelters are not constantly staffed with medical personnel.

Cooling, Warming Centers & Temporary Shelters:

Chopmist Hill Senior Center: 1315 Chopmist Hill Rd, North Scituate, RI 02857

  • Wed – Fri: 9:30 AM – 3 PM
  • In the event of an extensive power outage the Chopmist Hill Center will be opened by the Scituate Emergency Management Agency and staffed by volunteers and / or town employees.  In such an event the public will be notified as follows:   dates and hours of operation will be posted on this website under “Alerts” and will be sent by CodeRed notification.

Scituate High School: 94 Trimtown Rd, North Scituate, RI 0285

  • The Scituate High School will be opened by the Town in the event of a major or catastrophic event or a RI Health Department emergency where the Chopmist Hill Center would be inadequate.   In such an event the public will be notified as follows:  dates and hours of operation will be posted on this website under “Alerts” and will be sent by CodeRed notification.
